ANDERSON, In. – Local businesses have worked together to provide single mother Jennifer Marcel a pre-titled automobile through the Acoat Selected National Benevolence Program.  The annual program provides safe- reliable transportation to young families in circumstances where they must rely on family and friends to meet their transportation needs.

Several local agencies are asked to submit applications for a Benevolence Program recipient each year.  Jennifer Marcel, an employed single mother from Anderson was chosen to receive the 1994 Buick Regal.  In addition to the automobile, the program has provided Ms. Marcel with a year’s worth of auto insurance, license plates, and oil changes, along with grocery certificates, one hundred dollars worth of fuel, and several Christmas gifts for her daughter.  Family Forever Ministries in Anderson submitted Ms. Marcel’s name to the program.

“As collision specialists and participants in the Benevolence Program, Riley and Sons sees cars that are “written off” by owners or insurance companies each year.  These vehicles are often in need of moderate mechanical repair or bodywork to become road ready and safe.  With the generous assistance from local businesses, these cars can become the means by which a young family can better themselves.  It is extremely important that anyone with small children have reliable transportation”, says Tim Riley, owner of Riley & Sons.

Employees of Riley & Sons joined together to refurbish the 1994 Buick and arrange for Christmas gift donations for Jennifer’s daughter.  Donors and sponsors of the 2002 Benevolence Program are Auto Glass of Indiana, Carquest of Anderson, Dent Magic, Enterprise Rent A Car, Meijer’s, N.A.F.I.A., Payless, The Stan Petty Agency, Dale Pickett, R.A. Riley, and The Roger Roudebush Agency.

Akzo Nobel, maker of top-line automobile finishes and coatings, sponsors the National Benevolence Program.  Riley & Sons uses Akzo Nobels’ Sikkens-brand paint finishes in its collision repair process.

“We are a local company that has been in this community for over the last 45 years.  It is just nice to be able to give back to a community that has given so much to us.  Like all of the program sponsors, we take pride in helping the people of our community through this worthwhile program.  I personally would like to thank all my employees, and all of the other area businesses in this community that helped make this years Benevolence Program a success.  On behalf of all of this year’s sponsors we would like to wish Jennifer and her family a Very Merry Christmas,” says Tim Riley.
