Riley & Sons has long been a patron of our community, which has helped to make our facility successful. We are proud to have created and to sponsor the area's first business and education partnership to benefit area vocational students at the Ebbertt Education Center, Anderson.
To help promote the professionalism of the collision repair industry, locally and nationally, we provide educational opportunities for our area young people. Riley & Sons has teamed with the Ebbertt Education Center and the Anderson Community Schools Foundation to create a unique educational program. The Riley & Sons/ACS Autobody Trades Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to qualified area senior students enrolled in autobody and collision repair trades at Ebbertt.
This annual award program makes available three $1,000.00 scholarships to those senior students who meet scholastic criteria. The awards will help students offset the cost of post-secondary training in autobody and collision repair trades, which can cost as much as $12,000.00 for a 6-to-12 month program.
Tim Riley, president of Riley & Sons, says, "this post-secondary education can help the student make quick advances in the field. Advances in technology used in the autobody industry, especially in the area of collision repair, require specialized skills such as computer operation and laser-assisted repair systems. Our industry demands that a technician understands and has the ability to apply this technology."
"The scholarship provides even more opportunity for young people to prepare for a meaningful, stable and profitable occupation," says Cynthia Granger, executive director of the Anderson Community Schools Foundation. "We at the Foundation are pleased to participate in an innovative program that helps young people prepare for careers through trade education. And we appreciate Riley & Sons' foresight and action in support of local public education."
The Riley & Sons/ACS Foundation Autobody Trades Scholarship is awarded annually to senior high school students. The Ebbertt Education Center serves students from Anderson Community Schools and the nearby Alexandria-Monroe, Daleville, Eastern Hancock, Frankton/Lapel, Mount Vernon, South Madison and Shenandoah school corporations. The Riley & Sons/ACS Autobody Trades Scholarships are awarded at the Foundations' annual scholarships presentation.
